Born 17th October 1915, [Newmarket 3b:753] son of Alfred and Amy Alice POULTER (née LEVETT) of Exning

In 1911 his father [31] born in Moulton, was a shoeing smith, his mother [31] born Great Bealings, nr Woodbridge. They were living at Jockey Club Cottages, Laceys Lane, Exning, sons then were Harold [7], Leonard [6] and Stanley[5], but they had already had one child die.

In 1939, Edwin was a bus conductor, living with his parents at 14 Jockey Cub Terrace, Lacey's Lane, Exning.


He was one of the Chindits and died as a prisoner of the Japanese. Captured on 29th April 1943 with Captain Roberts, he died in Block 6 Rangoon Jail, his POW number was 565.
